President Muhammadu Buhari is meeting with governors who are members of the All Progressives Congress (APC).The meeting is taking place at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, today, Monday, October 24.
Already in attendance are the governors of Imo, Adamawa, Plateau, Kogi, Kaduna, Edo, Ogun, Kano, Kebbi and Benue States.
There are speculations that the meeting might not be unconnected with the recent ambassadorial nomination made by President Buhari with some governors reportedly unhappy that they were not consulted before the nominations.
According to This Day, a source close to the presidency said a cabal was responsible for the recent ambassadorial appointment.
The source said: “This is the same thing the wife of the president, Aisha, was talking about. These same people are the ones who drafted the list as they wanted and pushed it through without consulting anyone.
“Even in Ogun State where the governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, is assumed to be very close to the president, was said to have had no say in the choice of nominee from the state, as Ade Asekun was said to have been nominated by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo.”
