Manchester United to Offload Wayne Rooney

Manchester United reportedly wants to get its captain off the wage bill and a move abroad appears likely, with a number of clubs on red alert.
Wayne Rooney is reportedly set to leave Manchester United at the end of the season, with clubs in the United States and China queuing up to sign the 30-year-old.

United is desperate to offload Rooney, who is earning 300,000 pounds ($366K) a week, and faces the prospect of having to pay up the remainder of his deal, claims the Daily Mirror.

A move to the mega-rich Chinese Super League, where clubs can match or even increase his staggering wage packet at United, is a strong possibility.

However, the U.S. would seem to be a more natural fit for family man Rooney, and MLS commissioner Don Garber has already said the forward would be a hit stateside and coveted by many of his league's clubs.
