The 24-year-old, who came close to leaving White Hart Lane during the summer only to stay following talks with Mauricio Pochettino, has stepped into the attacking fold following injury to first-choice striker Harry Kane.
"This is my dream, to get the award," Son said.
"I want to get it a second time, a third time. When I take the award home my family will be crazy like you can’t believe; they will be really happy."
Son trumped Kevin De Bruyne, Adam Lallana, Romelu Lukaku and Theo Walcott to become the 16th Spurs player, level with Chelsea, to receive the award and the first since Kane in March, 29 16.
