On Sunday, Apple's Tim Cook shared some images taken with iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. The two phones are about to hit stores. The 7 Plus with two rear cameras, one with a 28mm lens and the other with a 56mm lens, is the first iPhone with two cameras.
Later this week the iPhone 7 hits
stores and to ramp up the hype, Apple boss Tim Cook on Sunday shared some shots snapped by the larger of the two devices, which comes with superior camera features.
Sports Illustrated photographer David E. Klutho took the pictures (full set here) at the Titans-Vikings game over the weekend.
Utilizing the iPhone 7 Plus’s two 12-megapixel rear cameras – one with a 28mm wide-angle lens and the other with a 56mm telephoto lens – Klutho’s photos are tack sharp with great color reproduction, results certain to delight photography enthusiasts who’re planning on going for the larger iPhone.
Albeit it lacks the second (telephoto) lens seen on the Plus, the smaller iPhone 7 also features an improved camera.
Both devices promise better shots in low light compared to earlier iterations of the iPhone, though Klutho’s football shots don’t offer any examples.
Professional photographers will be pleased to learn that the iPhone 7 also supports RAW image format – the first iPhone to do so – enabling more control when editing images.
Presumably Cook himself wasn’t at Sunday’s football game otherwise he would surely have posted some pics of his own taken with the new phone. Or perhaps not.
The Apple boss was ridiculed earlier this year when he tweeted a somewhat lousy image snapped during the post-match celebrations at the Super Bowl. Netizens wasted little time in mocking Cook, with one asking if the picture was taken with a toaster and another suggesting he switch to using a Samsung Galaxy device instead. Cook later deleted the blurry photo.
