For Mark and Erin Kane, parents of two young children and one on the way, news of the death of their neighbor's 1-year-old son, who was left alone in a car all day, is hard to believe. Especially given how police say it happened.
Mark Kane, a neighbor said,
"It's incomprehensible. I wouldn't know what I'd be going through if I was that mom."Investigators say 29-year-old Jodie Kennemer, an attorney for Pasenda Independent School District, thought she had dropped her son off at
the Kreative Kids Learning Center Thursday morning and went to work as normal. It wasn't until she came back later in the evening to pick him up that she realized she had never dropped him off.
Kane's wife, Erin, said,
"It's exceptionally terrifying to think about something like that ever happening to yourself or someone you know."Police say the little boy was discovered in the back seat still in his car seat and had been in the hot car the entire day. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
"It's not an easy thing to handle. We don't place blame on anybody for an accident," Erin Kane said. Now many people in the community are coming together to help support the family in any way they can.
"Hopefully lots of prayers going out to the family and hopefully they can get through it," Mark Kane said.
