WWE Puts In Bid To Acquire TNA Wrestling

One of the most iconic moments in the history of professional wrestling was when WWE purchased World Championship Wrestling (WCW) back in 2001, making WWE victorious in the infamous “Monday Night Wars”.
Fast forward to the present and it seems that WWE is interested in acquiring
it’s competition.

According to a report in the New York Post, WWE has recently put in a bid to purchase TNA.

Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan is in talks to become the majority owner of Impact Ventures, the producer of TNA and Impact Wrestling PPVs, which also appears weekly on the Pop cable and satellite network.

Corgan says
“I would love nothing better than to stand up in front of everyone and give a clear picture of where this company is and where it’s going,”

One major hurdle in acquisition talks is that Dixie Carter, Corgan, Aroluxe Marketing and Canada’s Fight Network all have equity stakes in the company.

Sinclair Broadcasting, which owns Ring of Honor (ROH), is also rumored to have put in a bid to purchase the cash-strapped wrestling organization.
